What types of booster seats are there? And which one is best for my child?

Answer

Booster seats come in a variety of options including: high back, backless, kid positioners, combination and convertible models. The purpose of all booster seats – regardless of which style you choose – is to “boost” the child, helping to properly position the vehicle’s lap-shoulder belt.

High-back belt-positioning boosters:
• Many of these have 2-in-1 options and convert to backless models if desired.
• High-back options offer the added support of a structured backrest/headrest which is helpful for vehicles with no headrests or shorter headrests.
• Some models offer adjustable headrests that grow with your child.
• Select models offer cup holders or accessories such as storage drawers
• Example: Store ‘N Go Sport Booster
• Typically for use from 40-100 lbs.

Backless belt-positioning boosters:.
• No back-booster models that feature a belt-positioning clip for customized fit.
• Select models offer cup holders or accessories such as storage drawers
• Not suggested for use with vehicles with no headrests or shorter headrests.
• Example: Store ‘N Go Backless Booster
• Typically for use from 40-100 lbs.

Kid positioners:
• These are great when your child is 8+ and the traditional boosters no longer make the cut.
• When bright colors, heavy padding, and personal cup holders are no longer cool, these kid positioners blend in with the neutral fabrics and tones of the vehicle seat.
• The purpose of these is to boost the child without calling attention to the seat – giving a safer and more comfortable ride without the look of a traditional booster seat.
• Example: Incognito
• Designed for kids 60-120 lbs. and up to 60” high.
